WHAT IS Cathlab?

Cathlab stands for catheterization laboratory. It is used for diagnosis and treatment of critical cardiac and brain conditions like vessel blockages and aneurysms. Most catheterization labs have two major types of equipments: an X-ray machine and an image magnifier.

In cathlab we can do invasive procedure. It requires all sterilization technique. It is very simple and painless procedure done under the local anesthesia. If required general can be given.

80 – 90% goes under local anesthesia. Time required is also very less. It hardly takes about 40 - 45 minutes in case of angiography and an hour so in case of angioplasty. In case of multiple vessels it takes a little longer time. During the whole process the patient remains awake.

We have Siemens Artis ZEE cathlab for angiography and angioplasty. It is very small and sleek. Easy to operate. It has the software base so that can be upgraded to the latest technology. It is one of the world’s best machines.
